In Person lessons
Private lessons in northern ireland
Biomechanics-based performance coaching for riders interested in APHA or aqha show classes.
These lessons are built for serious riders, or minimum intermediate skill level - able to walk/trot/canter on a loose rein… looking to train with intention, and develop toward the show pen.
Show-Pen Direction
The purpose of this coaching program is to develop riders and horses for competition in:
APHA and AQHA English and Western classes
Classes including- Ranch Riding, Trail, Western Horsemanship, English Equitation, Showmanship and more
Open all-breed competition through Stock Horse Ireland’s In-Person and E-Shows
You may ride any discipline (English or Western), and we will build your skills toward competitive success.
Come as you are:
Most of our riders begin, having never ridden western, and we welcome that. You can begin in your standard english riding gear until you are ready to commit to the discipline, though of course proper gear is ideal. The best way to start is using CB Horsemanship’s experienced school horses and tack to develop your feel and understanding.
Our lesson program develops:
Correct rider biomechanics
Clear communication through body control, posture, and balance
Relaxation and correct movement in performance horses
Maneuver execution built to earn credit in show classes
Breed-Inclusive, Skill-Focused
Riders can start with any breed of horse — no problem at all. When the rider is ready to move off a CB Horsemanship lesson horse onto their own horse, training is tailored to the individual athlete and horse, not limited by breed, type, or discipline.
Through Stock Horse Ireland’s All Breed program there are local competitive opportunities available no matter the breed. It is advantageous for many riders to start with the horse they have but consider a paint or quarter horse as their next horse.
English-Trained Horses & Lesson Horses
If you don’t already have an APHA or AQHA show horse, and your horse comes from a traditional English training background, we recommend beginning on a CB Horsemanship Lesson Horse. This will give you the opportunity to learn what it “should” feel like before taking those skills back to your own horse.
These lessons start at the lowest building block level, focusing on:
Biomechanics first
Correct, efficient movement
Creating relaxed, responsive horses
Building rider awareness without tension, force, or guesswork
From there, sessions progress at your pace and transfer those foundations directly onto your own competition horse.
